Edition 9: When Work Pays Off (But you Still Feel Behind)

New wins, old fears, and the discipline of staying in the game.

Hey friends —
The last couple weeks have been full of motion. Some wins hit. Some old habits tried to hit back. And I kept hearing this internal line: “You’re behind. You’re not doing enough.”

Maybe you’ve heard it too.

This week’s edition is about pushing back—on lies, on burnout, and on the quiet temptation to self-sabotage even when things are going well.

Let’s dig in.

🧠 Business / Marketing Insight

Buses, Engines, and the Myth of Overnight Success

I’ve had some big client momentum lately—syndicated articles through Stacker for BusesForSale.com, a steady flow of technical content for Wilmink Engine Parts out of the Netherlands, and strong results from messaging that doesn’t try to scream.

None of it happened overnight.

We live in a world that treats growth like it’s supposed to be instant. But the best marketing work I’ve done has been built on long-term trust, consistent voice, and content that actually respects the reader.

That’s what wins: quiet consistency with a backbone.

If you’re still grinding, still showing up, and still wondering if it’s worth it—stay the course. People notice. Value builds. The roots grow first.

🙏 Spiritual Reflection

False Narratives and the Power of Sound Self-Talk

’ve been catching myself lately with this line: “I’m not doing enough.”

Even in the middle of answered prayer. Even with doors opening. Even when I’m being faithful.

That voice isn’t truth. It’s most definitely fear. It’s the enemy trying to rewrite the narrative with scarcity, shame, and pressure.

I’ve been praying into this, especially as Emily and I parent Rylie. I speak grace and patience over her—but I realized I don’t always extend that to myself.

That’s part of why I wrote the new study guide I’ve been working on.
It’s for people like me—people who know the truth but still get ambushed by old fear patterns. Scarcity. Shame. The mental grip of “never enough.”

It’s not finished yet, but it’s being reviewed—and I’m praying it’ll be something that frees people up, not weighs them down.

I’ll share more soon. But if that resonates with you, just know: you’re not the only one in the fight.

You don’t have to earn what God already gave you.
You don’t have to perform your way into peace.

Take the thoughts captive. Say what’s true. Stay grounded in who you are—not what you’ve done lately.

💪 Physical Body + Mindset

Pushing Through, Slowing Down, and Why You’re Still Capable

Physically, it’s been a recalibration season. Some days I’m in the saddle grinding hills. Other days I’m carrying Rylie up the stairs while trying not to collapse like a cheap camping chair.

But I’m here.

The workouts aren’t for PRs anymore. They’re for presence. Okay, okay some of the rides are for PRs. I can't say I don't find myself pushing. But, for sure, I try to focus on the thought that discipline doesn’t mean perfection. It means I start again, even when it’s been a few off days.

What matters is this:

You are still capable.
You are still called.
And your body needs your belief, not your criticism.

If you’ve been slipping, don’t spiral. Restart.

Thanks for being here.
